Premier Grand Prix Indoor Karting near Tower Bridge - who will win the DD Cup?

Whether you are super-competitive or just like the thrill of driving at up to 40 mph a few inches above the ground in lightweight karts on a 400m metre circuit, this event is for you.

Adopting a Grand Prix format, the event will be run as follows:

1. We meet at 12 pm for our Drivers briefing - essential safety info and race tips.

2. Practice session - to enable you to get the feel of your Kart.

3. Qualifying session - this will determine your starting position on the grid for the main event.

4. The main race.

About the karts:

More Speed, Zero Carbon!

How is that possible?! Simple, Tower Bridge track is the first site in the world to be fully equipped with brand new Electric Eco Karts from Biz!

Much lighter than previous Eco karts, these babies have faster acceleration, better handling and of course, being electric, zero emissions – enabling all the events at Tower Bridge to have that extra adrenaline rush whilst being completely carbon neutral! Running on Lithium batteries (a UK first!!).

Worried that they might be slower than their petrol counterparts?  Don't be.  Teamsport have tested then side-by-side with 200cc race karts on their Crawley track - the Lightweight Biz Karts were a second a lap quicker!!!!

About the venue:

Teamsport Tower Bridge was completely refurbished in 2011 and has an 800 metre state-of-the-art track over two levels, which can be split into two 400 metre tracks.  Depending on booking numbers, we are likely to be using a 400 metre track.

The glass trackside bar area provides a cool seating environment for hanging out with friends and fellow karters or to watch your fellow team mates out on the track.

"Fuel" is on tap for hungry drivers seeking food for their tank or refreshment after their race!  Cold quenching drinks, hot beverages and a stronger type of fuel to celebrate after you thrash your fellow Dinner Daters on the track are available!

The site is 300 metres from Bermondsey tube station.  For those travelling by car, there is ample secure onsite parking. The event is on a Sunday and no congestion charge applies.

Who would this event suit and what will I need to bring?

You don't need to be a race fan or petrol-head to enjoy this event (although if you are you should definitely come).  For those who have never karted (or even driven before) this is an ideal first-time event as you will get a full briefing and staff will be at hand to really look after you.  Karting events are very sociable and generate a great sense of friendly camaraderie (and sometimes friendly rivalry)!  If you are not sure if it is up your street, call us to discuss what you might expect.

We recommend drivers wear soft shoes. Trainers are ideal, open toe footwear and high heels are not allowed! No special clothing is required.  Trousers are recommended for ladies. Bring warm clothes if it is a cold day.

Please feel free to bring support gimmicks such as klaxon horns, banners, flags etc – all adding to the fun atmosphere!

Go-Karting is not recommended for persons with heart problems, epilepsy or other conditions which may be affected by exertion. Particularly tall, short or heavier drivers may have problems fitting into the karts. We recommend a maximum height of 6’4” and a maximum weight of 18 stone.  Let us know in advance if your inside leg is less than 29".  Hopefully not relevant to DD members, but karting whilst pregnant is also ill-advised!

Please note that depending on time and other bookings extra karting may be available at £12 per 8 minute session payable directly to the venue.
