A superb opportunity to visit the beautifully reconstructed Globe Theatre, originally designed in 1599 & co-owned by William Shakespeare for whom it was the unique theatrical & architectural space for which he wrote most of his greatest plays.

We will see Shakespeare’s ‘Merry Wives of Windsor’ described by the Daily Telegraph as ’the feel-good hit of the summer’ & by the Times as ‘a wonderfully warming comedy, stuffed to bursting with belly laughs’ & the Sunday Telegraph comments ‘This production brims with humanity, ingenuity & irresistible charm.’

Imagining that Mistress Ford and Mistress Page have each fallen for him, the fat knight Sir John Falstaff decides to seduce them both, as much for their husbands’ money as for their personal charms. Wise to the old rogue’s tricks, the women turn the tables on him with a series of humiliating assignations & a very damp, extremely smelly laundry basket.

Following this sparkling comedic performance we cross the road to the Turkish Restaurant ‘Tas Pide’ to have a delicious Anatolian supper cooked in the big wood-fired oven, in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere.

What a cultural & gastronomic feast this evening promises to be!
