MILAN – BANK HOLIDAY BREAK at THE 4* DORIA GRAND HOTEL 27th - 30th August

Milan is one of the most important & stylish cities in Italy & full of history with countless impressive buildings in many different styles ranging from old Neo-classical Milanese palaces (palazzos) to ultra-modern towers & office blocks. One of its most famous landmarks is La Scala Theater, a temple to Opera & famous worldwide, where some of the greatest composers have made their debuts: Rossigni, Donizetti, Bellini, Puccini & in 1839, Giuseppe Verdi. Milan is also known throughout the world for its leading high fashion & design excellence & shopping opportunities are at their very best in the Golden Quad area, where streets are filled with leading fashion houses.

We stay at the 4 star superior Doria Grand Hotel, located 500m.from the central railway station, close to the metro & 2.5kms from Dom Square.It has an elegant restaurant "Il Capriccio" & Caffè Doria, a fine English-style bar, intimate & welcome which features jazz music.

On Friday afternoon August 27th a local English speaking guide will meet us at the hotel & you will have a 2.5 hr city tour by private coach & on foot.

On Saturday 28th August we have a full day excursion to Lake Maggiore & Stresa by private coach with a hostess. We depart from Stresa port for a 3 hour private boat tour around the Borromean Islands; the boat will go to Isola Madre & stop at Isola Bella where we visit the Palace (entrance included) followed by another stop at the Island of Pescatori an old picturesque fishing village. We return to Stresa Port at approximately 13.00 hrs. The afternoon is free to enjoy the beauty of Stresa, the lake & to visit Villa Pallavicino with it’s beautiful garden(entrance included) We return to Hotel at approximately 17.00hrs

On Sunday 29th August we have a full day excursion to Lake Como. We will be taken by coach & arrive in the city of Como at 10.00hrs approx. where we will be met by a local English speaking guide for a 2 hour guided tour of Como & its main monuments; the old Piazza Duomo, the Cathedral & the Church of San Fedele. After lunch we will be taken by coach to the lake resort of Tremezzo arriving at 14.30hrs approx. where the guide will take us to visit Villa Carlotta, a 17th century Villa.(entrance included). At 16.00hrs approx. we return to the hotel.

On Monday 30th August we have free time to shop, sightsee or just relax, before returning to the airport at approximately 13.20 hrs.
